Greenpois0n is a multi-platform jailbreak for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad; this means that it works both on Windows and Mac. This in itself cannot make greenpois0n tick, so what makes it tick? Greenpois0n uses the SHAtter exploit, in all probability this and only this is what makes greenpois0n tick. The question now becomes “what is SHAtter?”SHAtter is a new exploit that allows ALL iOS devices that have been released up to date to be jailbroken for LIFE! Yes for Life. Such devices include iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G, iPad, iPad 3G, iPod touch and even the new Apple TV!
This fact of the matter is that SHAtter relays on a hardware exploit. This means that Apple won’t be able to patch the SHAtter jailbreak exploit with a simple or complex software update. Apple can only eliminate this exploit with a new hardware release that addresses the vulnerability that is found in all of it's current iDevices. Until this happens, all iOS devices including the Apple TV will both in principle and practice be jailbreakable thanks be to SHAtter.
What is the relationship between greenpois0n and SHAtter?
As mentioned above, greenpois0n utilizes the SHAtter exploit. Currently, there is no release date for both greenpois0n and SHAtter. Nonetheless, we have it in good word that greenpois0n will be available before iOS 4.2 is released, that is, some time before November.
If you want to jailbreak iOS 4.1, stay tuned. We will update you once the greenpois0n or SHAtter jailbreaks are available. Until then it is in the best of your interests to stay away from all sites that claim to either have downloads for greenpois0n or the SHAtter tolls. But above all, keep away from ALL SITES THAT OFFER JAILBREAKING FOR A FEE- THEY ARE ALL SCAMS!
