Android is Number One, Apple and RIM come second in the War of SmartPhones

Google, Apple, and RIM are all vying for the top spot among the smartphones. But which one is dominant depends on whether you look at operating systems or devices, according to new data from Nielsen.
Among mobile operating systems, Google's Android has surged into first place in the United States, grabbing 29 percent of the market, compared with 27 percent for Research In Motion's BlackBerry OS and 27 percent for Apple's iOS.
That left a 10 percent share for Microsoft's Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7 combined, 4 percent for HP's Palm WebOS, and 2 percent for Nokia's Symbian

It's interesting to note that the popularity of Android, iOS, and BlackBerry OS didn't differ much across most age groups. However, those in the 18-24 range showed a somewhat higher preference for Android phones, according to Nielsen's numbers released this week.
The latest data shows a surge for Android from last summer when Nielsen pegged its market share at 19 percent versus 28 percent for iOS and 30 percent for the BlackBerry OS.
Having noted all that, taking a close look at the devices themselves, Nielsen found that Apple and RIM continue to be the major players in the U.S. compared with other manufacturers as they're the only ones making their own devices with their own operating systems. Their 27 percent market shares outshine third-place HTC, which has captured around 12 percent share with Android and 7 percent with Microsoft's mobile OS.
Motorola was the next manufacturer on the charts with 10 percent share with Android customers and 1 percent with Microsoft's mobile OS. Samsung followed with a 5 percent share with Android and 2 percent with Microsoft's OS.
Regardless of who's on top, the demand for smartphones continues to grow. In the last six months, 47 percent of consumers who picked up a mobile phone opted for a smartphone over a feature phone, according to Nielsen.
To compile its data, Nielsen surveyed more than 14,000 mobile subscribers from November 10 to January 11. As a result, the numbers don't factor in some of the recent developments in the mobile market, notably the debut of the Verizon iPhone.

iPhone 5 to have Dual Core Processor?

2011 is going to be the year of the dual-core smartphone according to industry website DIGITIMES.
Citing the infamous ‘industry sources’, DIGITIMES reports that Nvidia, Qualcomm and Broadcomm among others have already released multi-core platforms with others on the way.
While LG Electronics (LGE) and Motorola already unveiled their dual-core smartphones at CES, HTC, Samsung Electronics and Nokia are expected to showcase similar models at the upcoming Mobile World Conference (MWC), indicated the sources.
It is anticipated that Apple will join the Dual-Core smartphone bandwagon with iPhone 5 this year. RIM already has a dual-core CPU in its upcoming PlayBook tablet and Apple is believed to be looking at a similar chip for its 2nd generation iPad.
Sales of multi-core smartphones will account for 15% of global handset shipments in 2011 with the ratio likely to climb to 45% in 2015, according to an estimate by Strategy Analytics.
With smartphones becoming more and more powerful and users demanding HD visuals and high resolution screens it’s perhaps inevitable that hardware specs will need to grow in order to power them.

The New iPhone 4 problem sends Apple into Panic.

Apple's solution to the much publicized iPhone 4 antenna problem was to advise it's clients to buy iPhone 4 cases. Due to the magnitude of the problem, Apple was eventually forced to offer such cases on a global scale.
However, as of today, Ryan Block of Gdgt reports that some third party iPhone 4 cases lead to the glass back of the phone being cracked. The explanation of this unfortunate occurrence is that once the iPhone 4 is slipped into a case then small particles of dust do get caught between the case and the phone. These "particulate matter" then cause small scratches on the back glass which eventually blooms into big cracks.
To make matters worse, even without the particulate matter and the cases, the iPhone 4 can still get scratched

The Greenpois0n SHAtter Hype- Do not Get Scammed, Get Legit and Free jailbreaking tools links

We have repeatedly warned you to keep away from all sites that offer jailbreaking tools for your iOS device for a fee because they are ALL SCAMS. Such sites are scams because they will either offer you for a fee functional products that are meant to be free or at worst they will offer you bogus non-functional products for a fee. Either way, you stand to lose you hard earned cash as well as expose your credit card details to cyber criminals.
The whole point is that as of today, and I do not expect that to change any time soon, developers of jailbreaking tools offer their products for free. Most of them generate their income through voluntary donations or adverts. What's common amongst all of them is that they do offer their products for free.
For you own good and interests, I have compiled a list of the genuine and free jailbreaking sites. I shall keep on updating this list. Please note that it is up to you to follow the directives provided by these sites before you attempt to either jailbreak or unlock your iDevice. To receive the latest updates on these sites and more follow me on @tecwizpie

What Makes Greenpois0n Tick or Should I say SHAtter?

Greenpois0n is a multi-platform jailbreak for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad; this means that it works both on Windows and Mac. This in itself cannot make greenpois0n tick, so what makes it tick? Greenpois0n uses the SHAtter exploit, in all probability this and only this is what makes greenpois0n tick. The question now becomes “what is SHAtter?”
SHAtter is a new exploit that allows ALL iOS devices that have been released up to date to be jailbroken for LIFE! Yes for Life. Such devices include iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G, iPad, iPad 3G, iPod touch and even the new Apple TV!
How is all this possible?

3D Movies Will Soon be Available to iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android

3DeeCentral
The Stereoscopic 3D experience is coming soon to iOS devices and Android via the 3DeeCentral app. Even though this app will not offer native three-dimensional video, it will nonetheless produce similar results. The most exciting thing is that you will not have to wear those outrageous polarized glasses! On the contrary, Spatial View, the developers of the 3DeeCentral app, will make a thin screen that slips on top of your iPhone 3G or 3GS. It is this screen will let you see video rendered in 3D without wearing funny glasses. This screen is expected to cost under $20. Currently, Spatial View has already submitted their 3DeeCentral app to the App Store. Their app features a catalog of 3D movies that can be viewed on all the devices mentioned above.
